“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all people.” – Acts 2:46 (NIV)
We have recently begun a new way of meeting together during the week here at Kingsgate. On different days, at different times, groups have begun meeting across the Borough of Great Yarmouth to eat together and have begun to weave their lives together.
Why do you have midweek groups around a table?
Tim Chester, author of ‘A meal with Jesus’ says this about meeting over a meal:
Meals slow things down. Some of us don’t like that. We like to get things done. But meals force you to be people-oriented instead of task-oriented. Sharing a meal is not the only way of building relationships. But it’s number one on the list.’
That’s it, really, in a nutshell!
What can I expect if I decide to join a Dinner Table Discipleship Group?
Although each group will have its own distinctive character, one thing is for certain; you can expect a very warm welcome whichever one you choose to join! You can also expect to enjoy sharing a simple meal with a few other Kingsgate folk; and you will have the opportunity to participate in most or all of the following:
- Praying together
- Exploring the Scriptures together
- Taking communion together
- Building closer relationships with each other
If you would like to know more, or think you might (or know you do) want to join a group, have a chat with Dan & Ali Jones or Adam on a Sunday, or email firstname.lastname@example.org . We would love to welcome you aboard to share the journey!
