Dear Church Family,
I’m writing to let you know that between April 11th and 13th, I’m going to be in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, for the Together for the Gospel Conference . For a number of years, I’ve followed this bi-annual conference, hoping that one day I may be able to attend. Amazingly, I’ve received a really generous gift that has made it possible for me to do just that and I’m still pinching myself to check that this isn’t a dream!
The Together for the Gospel Conference theme for 2018 is ‘how the culture in which we live, may call churches to conform, but God calls us to be holy, set apart, sanctified and distinct.’
The Speakers at the Conference include John Piper, Mark Dever and Thabiti Anyabwile These men have been instrumental in shaping my theological thinking and as it’s my birthday whilst I’m away (and yes, its a Big One!), it honestly feels like the best birthday gift ever!
I’m really praying that I will learn a great deal from the main sessions, seminars and panel discussions, plus the conversations over coffee with other leaders from around the world. It is my desire and belief that this in turn will be of huge benefit to us at Kingsgate as we look to navigate the constantly shifting sand of culture and how we might be faithful to proclaiming the Gospel in our generation!
- Please do pray for me as I travel (7th to the 15th April).
- Pray that God would speak very clearly to me and that I would be ready and prepared to respond.
- Pray for safe travels and good health whilst I am away.
- Pray also for Lorna and the girls, that whilst I’m away, they would be safe and enjoy their Easter break together.
Oh, and by the way, don’t worry about things here at Kingsgate, we’ll make sure everything is well covered whilst I am away.
