Ch 14 v 10-12
10 “Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! 11 I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. 12 Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”
Think
Caleb, along with Joshua, were the only survivors from the desert years. During that time God had made a promise, through Moses, to bless Caleb with land of his own. After 40 years of waiting God is delivering on his promise – as he always does.
Note how Caleb had kept himself ready for this moment, he was still fit and ready and up for the fight ahead and, more importantly, he was still full of faith.
What promises has God made to you? They could be promises from scripture that God has particularly laid on your heart – promises never to leave you, to prosper you, to provide for you etc.
Or they may be things that God has said he will do in your life – dreams about a particular ministry or a particular place or a particular person you are praying for.
Even if the years have seemed long, know that God ALWAYS keeps his promises. Our part is to remain ready to receive and full of faith for when the time finally comes.
Pray
Lord, I thank you that your promises are true and can be relied on. Forgive me for the times I doubt in your ability or desire to deliver on them.
Help me to grow in my faithfulness and patience as I trust you with my whole life. Help me to see that your plans, your timing is always the best, even when I would prefer you to do things differently.
Thank you Lord for your steadfast love for me.
