We are really excited to let you know that Kingsgate Community Church will soon have a new facility available, to bless people living in need in our local community.
We found out last week, that we have been successful with a funding application to convert one of the small ground floor rooms in our centre into a Laundry Room!
This grant will enable us, over the next couple of months, to install suitable moisture proof wall and floor coverings, increase the electricity supply and ventilation, as well as purchase and install a good quality washing machine and condenser tumble dryer, auto switch off iron alongside storage and consumables!
The first people we expect to benefit from this facility are the guests of the Living Room (night shelter) that stay with us on Friday nights over the winter. Once we have got the new laundry room up and running, we also plan for others in need in the community to be able to access both these new clothes washing facilities and our showers (which are being increasingly used) There are currently very few options available to access these sorts of services without cost in the Borough. The plan would also include the care and support we would like to have available to people using these facilities at the centre.
Being able to wear clean, dry clothes is something most of us don’t even have to think about. The creation of our new Laundry Room will mean that this is something more people in our community can appreciate as well.
