Over the last few posts, I started to unpack the vision we have for Kingsgate which is to: Raise a 300-strong church community, that is devoted to gospel-shaped Witness, Discipleship and Compassion
Today I want to focus on another simple word which has massive implications for us as a church:
COMPASSION
We want to be a church community that expresses the compassion of God in two directions. Firstly, in the way we care for one another, through prayer, healing, deliverance and pastoral care and secondly, through reaching outwards into our communities through social action. Both of these activities are expressions of Jesus’ compassion for people! Again and again in scripture, we see Jesus being moved by compassion and then acting on it. This is our desire, that over and over again, we will be constantly moved to care for and express the love of God in the church community and in the communities around us!
What’s this going to look like? Messy, challenging, difficult and often facing many setbacks! At the same time, it’s going to involve many beautiful stories of transformation and change and God breaking into some of the darkest and deepest valleys imaginable!
Friends, don’t you want to see that growing up and around us as a church community over the years ahead?
So we’re looking to raise a 300-strong church community that is devoted to gospel-shaped: witness, discipleship and compassion.
